Richard Burgess (2010)

Richard Burgess studied at the University of Bristol (BA Architecture, 1977), London School of Theology (MA in Biblical Hermeneutics, 1993), and the University of Birmingham (PhD Theology, 2004). His doctoral thesis, entitled The Civil War Revival and its Pentecostal Progeny: A Religious Movement among the Igbo People of Eastern Nigeria (1967-2002) was published by Paternoster as part of the Regnum Studies of Mission series. Between 1990 and 2007 he worked as a lecturer at several theological institutions in Nigeria. His most recent position was at the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (University of Jos). Since 2007, he has worked as a research fellow at the University of Birmingham, employed on the three year NORFACE-funded research programme entitled Re-emergence of Religion as a Social Force in Europe? He has published on African Pentecostalism and African immigrant churches in Europe.

Richard Burgess was a fellow at global prayers • redemption and liberation in the city from July 2010 until February 2011.
