global prayers • redemption and liberation in the city consists of several phases, each with its own intrinsic form and format of publication. One important aspect of the project is the research process itself: the discussion of theories and topics, of research questions and methods, the researchers’/investigators’ reflections on their own movements and positioning, the contradictions inherent in the research process itself. Consequently, one of the project’s core elements is a number of workshops that take place at the research locations and tied in with public presentations and discussions with local experts.

Another core element is a number of workshop discussions aimed at larger audiences that focus on some of the project’s specific thematic and methodological aspects. The exhibition the Urban Cultures of Global Prayers at the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (NGBK) in Berlin (November 11, 2011–January 8, 2012) and at the Camera Austria in Graz (January 27–March 31, 2012) primarily focus on the research project’s artistic positions. The Global Prayers Theme Days at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (February 23–26, 2012) bring together the different strands of scientific and artistic research and provide a forum for a large audience to discuss them in a variety of formats with the participation of international experts.
