Presenting Urban Prayers
New religious movements are currently changing everyday lifes as well as social and economic structures in metropolises all over the world. The volume Urban Prayers. Neue religiöse Bewegungen in der Stadt published by metroZones - Center for Urban Affairs e.V. investigates this phenomenon in cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Mumbai, Beirut, Kairo, Lagos, and Berlin.
On October 13 the book was presented in the Café Global at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. On the occasion of this event the editors were discussing this new religious phenomenon with Prof. Hansjörg Dilger (Freie Universität Berlin, Professor for Ethnology; Center for Area Studies Berlin), Prof. Werner Schiffauer (Europa-Universität Viadrina, Frankfurt/ Oder, Professor for Comparative Social and Cultural Anthropology), and Klaus Teschner (Misereor e.V., Aachen).
